UPDATE: The British Columbia Missing Report is sad to share that according to media sources the RCMP have located the body of Roy Sharp. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time. We would like to thank everyone who assisted by sharing this report.


ORIGINAL ARTICLE: TAPPEN — The Salmon Arm RCMP is asking for the local public’s assistance in locating missing 75 year old Roy Sharp out of the Tappen, British Columbia area.

Roy has been missing since the mudslide on Sunnybrae Canoe Point May 6, 2017. 

It was reported that Roy Sharp was last seen inside his home the night of the slide.

Search efforts involving technicians with the Shuswap Search and Rescue, Tappen Volunteer and Heavy Urban Search and Rescue Team have been on site throughout the weekend.  Searchers were able to search the destroyed home and areas of the mudslide debris field, however have been unable to locate Roy Sharp.

The Salmon Arm RCMP continues to work with the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, Ministry of Transport and other agencies, in our efforts in dealing with this tragic natural disaster. It has been with the tireless help of our area Volunteer Search and Rescue professionals and additional support from HUSAR. We will continue to provide the needed support to Mr. Sharp’s family and the affected community, stated Sgt Scott West of the Salmon Arm RCMP.

Search efforts will continue with assessments being made daily in order to ensure that the site conditions are safe for searchers to continue the efforts.
